Syntheses of 2,9,14-trimethyl- (2), 14-methylbenzo- (4), and methyldibenzo-10,12-bisdehydro21>annulenone (5) are described.The effect of α-methyl substitution and benzannelation for the bisdehydroannulenone ring sytem are discussed.
