(Syn.M. paniculata) from which we reported mecoticin (1), hibiscetin heptamethyl ether, carbazole alkaloids, murrayazoline, mahanimbine and girinimbine, we now report the structure of a new antibiotic dimeric coumarin named mexolide (2) having an unusual cyclohexene system similar to that in cyclobissuberodiene .
