Triphenylcyanomethylphosphonium iodide is a complex organic compound with the chemical formula C20H18IP+. It is a phosphonium salt, characterized by the presence of a phosphonium cation (P+) bonded to three phenyl groups and a cyanomethyl group. The iodide anion (I-) balances the positive charge of the cation, forming a neutral salt. triphenylcyanomethylphosphonium iodide is often used in organic synthesis as a reagent or a catalyst, particularly in reactions involving the formation of carbon-carbon bonds. It is known for its stability and its ability to participate in various chemical transformations, making it a valuable tool in the field of chemistry.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 77785-52-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,7,7,8 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 77785-52:
(7*7)+(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*8)+(3*5)+(2*5)+(1*2)=185
185 % 10 = 5
So 77785-52-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

N,N-Dialkylmethaniminium iodides were obtained by the reactions of N,N-dialkylmethaniminium chlorides with methyl iodide. The reactions of ammonium and phosphonium chlorides with triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate, dimethyl sulfate, methyl tosylate, and methyl iodide take place with substitution of the chloride ion by the BF4-, CH3SO3O-, p-CH3C6H4SO3- or I- ions.Substitution of the chloride ion of phosphonium salts by the iodide ion can be realized by the action of trimethyliodosilane.
