light yellow liquid
Uses
Different sources of media describe the Uses of 7783-33-7 differently. You can refer to the following data:
1. Detecting the presence of ammonia, particularly
in very small amounts.
2. Mercury(II) potassium iodide is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. It is also used as reagents, chemical research and organic intermediates.
Definition
Solution of mercuric iodide in
potassium iodide.
General Description
Odorless yellow crystals. Crystallizes with either one, two or three molecules of water. Soluble in water and denser than water. Commercially available in the anhydrous form. Highly toxic by ingestion, inhalation, and skin absorption.
Air & Water Reactions
Deliquescent. Very water soluble.
Reactivity Profile
MERCURIC POTASSIUM IODIDE is incompatible with acetylene, ammonia, chlorine dioxide, azides, calcium (amalgam formation), sodium carbide, lithium, rubidium, copper . NESSLER'S REAGENT behave in aqueous solution as a weak acid.
Hazard
Highly toxic by ingestion, inhalation, and
skin absorption.
Health Hazard
Highly toxic, may be fatal if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through skin. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.
Fire Hazard
Non-combustible, substance itself does not burn but may decompose upon heating to produce corrosive and/or toxic fumes. Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may pollute waterways.
Safety Profile
A poison. Moderately
toxic by skin contact and intraperitoneal
routes. When heated to decomposition it
emits very toxic fumes of Hg, K2O, and I-.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 7783-33-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,7,8 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7783-33:
(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*8)+(3*3)+(2*3)+(1*3)=127
127 % 10 = 7
So 7783-33-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
