The reaction of methyl N-(2-thiazolyl)dithiocarbamate with phenylhydrazine and hydrazine hydrate leads to the formation of 1-(2-thiazolyl)-4-phenylthiosemicarbazide and 4-(2-thiazolyl)thiosemicarbazide.With aromatic aldehydes the latter forms the 4-(2-thiazolyl)thiosemicarbazones of substituted benzaldehydes, and with phenyl isothiocyanate it forms 1-(2-thiazolyl)-6-phenylhydrazodithiocarbonamide.In the case of the reaction of methyl N-(2-thiazolyl)dithiocarbamate with cyanoacetamide the possibility of introducing a thiazolylthiocarbamoyl group into organic CH acids was demonstrated.
