2-Phenylamino-5-carboxymethylthio-1,3,4-thiadiazole forms complexes with divalent manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel and copper. The complexes have 2:1 (ligand-metal) stoichiometry.Cu(II) complex is square-planar while the rest are high-spin octahedral involving covalent bonding through the oxygen of COOH group and coordination through sulphur of exocyclic C-S group. The complexes are more fungitoxic against Paecilomyces variotii and Curvularia lunata, as compared to the ligand.
