Anti-inflammatory Agents : Part III - Synthesis of 3-Aryl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-2-one-6-alkanoic Acid Esters as Potential Anti-inflammatory Agents

A number of methyl 3-aryl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-2-one-6-acetates (IVa-f) and the corresponding 6-α-methylacetates (Va-f) have been synthesized and tested for their antiinflammatory activity in the carrageenan induced rat foot oedema assay.Some of the compounds (IVb, e, f; Va, b, e and f) show moderate activity ranging from 8.8 percent to 20.46 percent at 200 mg/Kg (p.o.)dose.
