Preparation and Characterization of Complexes of Dichlorobis(cyclopenadienyl)titanium(IV) with Hydroxycoumarins

The reaction between dichlorobis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV) and monohydroxycoumarins such as 7-hydroxycoumarin, 4-methyl-7-hydroxycoumarin, 4-phenyl-7-hydroxycoumarin, 4-methyl-6-nitro-7-hydroxycoumarin and 4-methyl-8-nitro-7-hydroxycoumarin has been carried out in 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 molar ratios in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of triethylamine.Products of the type Cp2Ti(OCM)Cl and Cp2Ti(OCM)2 respectively, where (-) is the anion of the corresponding hydroxycoumarin, CMOH are obtained.With dihydroxycoumarins; 6,7-dihydroxycoumarin and 4-phenyl-6,7-dihydroxycoumarin, derivatives of the type Cp2Ti(O2CM) are obtained where (2-) represents the anion of the corresponding dihydroxycoumarin, CMO2H2.The new hydroxycoumarin derivatives have been characterized on the basis of thier elemental analyses, conductance, electronic and IR spectral data.
