Several 4-(hydroxyimino)-1,4-dihydro-3(2H)-isoquinolinones were synthesized by the isonitrosation of the corresponding 1,4-dihydro-3(2H)-isoquinolinones.The hydrogen bond formed between the hydroxyl and oxo groups gives rise to a characteristic change in the IR and 1H-NMR spectra, furthermore in the physical and chemical properties of the compounds.
