HOMOLEPTIC PHENYL ISOCYANIDE COMPLEXES OF MOLYBDENUM AND TUNGSTEN: ZEROVALENT SIX-COORDINATE VERSUS DIVALENT SEVEN-COORDINATE
Klendworth, Douglas D.,Welters, Warren W.,Walton, Richard A.
, p. C13 - C16 (1981)
Electrochemical and chemical oxidations of Mo(CNPh)6 and W(CNPh)6 have been shown to yield seven-coordinate 2+.These cations, stabilized as their PF6- salts, can be obtained in yields of 80percent.The redox and substitution chemistry of these new complexes have been explored.A convenient synthesis of W(CNPh)6 has been devised starting from W2(dmhp)4 (dmhp is the anion of 2,4-dimethyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine).
Redox chemistry of hexakis(phenyl isocyanide) complexes of molybdenum and tungsten: The synthesis of the seven-coordinate cations [M(CNPh)7]2+ and their electrochemistry and substitution reactions

, p. 336 - 343 (2008/10/08)
The reactions of the quadruply bonded tungsten complexes W2(mhp)4 and W2(dmhp)4 (mhp and dmhp re the anions of 2-hydroxy-6-methylpyridine and 2,4-dimethyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine, respectively) with excess phenyl is
