The Grignard reaction of 3,4-dihydro-4,7-dimethyl-1(2H)-naphthalenone with isopropylmagnesium bromide gave a 3:1 mixture of normal reaction product and α-isopropylidene ketone, from which, the title sesquiterpenes and 1,2-bis(3-isopropyl-4-methoxy-6-methyl-1-naphthyl)ethane were synthesized.
