Equilibrium decomposition pressures were determined for (CoBr2 + rCH3CN) at temperatures between 294 and 380 K and for (CoBr2 + rCH3CH2CN) at temperatures between 303 and 367 K.Compositions studied ranged from mole ratios r of 0.37 to 3.0 for CH3CN and of 0.26 to 2.73 for CH3CH2CN.For each pair two stoichiometric compounds were identified: Co(CH3CN)3Br2, Co(CH3CN)2Br2, Co(CH3CH2CN)3Br2, and Co(CH3CH2CN)2Br2.For RCN(g) the values of ΔH0/kJ mol-1 were calculated to be (49.8+/-0.5) for the partial decomposition of Co(CH3CN)3Br2, (56.9+/-0.3) for the decomposition of Co(CH3CN)2Br2, (55.7+/-0.4) for the partial decomposition of Co(CH3CH2CN)3Br2, and (55.0+/-0.4) for the decomposition of Co(CH3CH2CN)2Br2.
