Compounds Acting on Cardiovascular System: Part III - Synthesis of Some New Thiobarbituric Acid Derivatives

Sixteen new 1-aryl-3-(2',4',6'-trimethylphenyl)-5-(substituted benzylidene)thiobarbituric Acids (III) have been synthesized by the condensation of appropriate aldehydes with 1-aryl-3-(2',4',6'-trimethylphenyl)thiobarbituric acid (II), and evaluated for their cardiovascular activity in anaesthetized dogs.Some of the compounds exhibit promising hypotensive activity of varying magnitude and duration.
