Diene reactions of the ethyl propiolate and 4-methyloxazole derivatives containing the carbethoxy group in position 5 or 2 and the alkyl group (Et, Pr, i-Pr, t-Bu) in position 2 or 5, respectively, were investigated upon.It was stated that the ratio of both the products formed did not depend on the place of carbethoxy and the alkyl groups in position 2 and 5 in the oxazole. The directing effect of COOEt group is counterbalanced by the effect of t-butyl group.
