REACTION OF HEXAMETHYLDITIN WITH DIMETHYLTIN DICHLORIDE. II. RATE STUDIES AND MECHANISM
Cuthbertson, Matthew J.,Wells, Peter R.
, p. 349 - 369 (2007/10/02)
Rate data for the concurrent reaction of hexamethyldithin with dimethyltin dichloride and with stwo of the products of this reaction in methanol solution at 30 deg C have been analysed in terms of individual steps.Line-broadening phenomena in the system have been studied, providing evidence of the intermediacy of dimethyltin and its insertion into tin-chlorine bonds.A general mechanism for this and related reactions is presented.
REACTION OF HEXAMETHYLDITIN WITH DIMETHYLTIN DICHLORIDE. I. PRODUCT COMPOSITION AND INTERMEDIATES
Cuthbertson, Matthew J.,Wells, Peter R.
, p. 331 - 348 (2007/10/02)
Hexamethylditin in methanol solution reacts with dimethyltin dichloride to yield as major products trimethyltin chloride and polymeric materials whose composition depends upon the molar ratio of the reactants.Tetramethylditin dichloride is a significant minor product together with small amounts of various intermediates which have been tentatively identified. The stoichiometry of the reaction has been established.
