In th e reaction of N-methyl homophenylalanine and N-methyl norleucine with hexafluoroacetic anhydride the expected 1,3-oxazolidin-5-one derivatives are formed only as by-products.As main products 3--2,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)furan derivatives could be isolated, the structures of which were identified by spectroscopic methods.
