Pyridine-4-carbaldehyde reacts with ferrocenyl-4,5-dihydropyrazoles to yield ferrocenyl-1-(4-pyridylmethyl)pyrazoles and ferrocenyl-1-[2-hydroxy- 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethyl]pyrazoles. The structures of the compounds obtained were established based on spectroscopic (IR, mass, 1H and 13C NMR) data. X-ray diffraction data for 4-[3-(p-bromophenyl)-5-ferrocenyl-l-(4- pyridyl)-methylpyrazole corroborate its structure.
