Some new derivatives of thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(3H)-ones have been prepared via condensation reaction of ethyl 2-amino-4,5- dimethylthiophene-3- carboxylate with trie thy lortho acetate followed by cyclocondensation with amines or hydrazines using microwave irradiation in solvent-free condition.
