Synthesis and Mercuration of Some New 2-Arylamino-4,5-disubstituted-oxazoles as Pesticides

A large number of new 2-arylamino-4,5-disubstituted-oxazoles (I) have been synthesised by condensing various aliphatic ketones with different arylureas in the presence of bromine, and mercurated by one equivalent of mercuric acetate to give the monoacetoxymercuri derivatives (II).Both the types of compounds have been assayed for their fungicidal activity against Pyricularia oryzae (Cav) and bactericidal activity against Staph. aureus and Esch. coli.
