Reaction of the donor/acceptor substituted allenes 7 or 15 with elemental sulfur yields the vinyl thioethers 12 or 17 and/or the thioketones 14.The formation of these products probably is due to the sulfidoallyl ions 9 or 16.Whereas the thioketones 14c, d with catalytic amounts of triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate give the vinyl thioethers 17c, d, 14e under these conditions forms the tricyclic lactone 18.
