General Description
Ethyl 2,5-dimethylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carboxylate is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carboxylates. It is commonly used in pharmaceutical research and drug development as a building block for the synthesis of various biologically active compounds. This chemical has also been identified as a potential carcinogen and mutagen, and its presence in tobacco smoke has raised concerns about its role in the development of cancer. The compound's structure and reactivity make it an important target for studies into its potential health effects and applications in medicine.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 81438-49-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,1,4,3 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 81438-49:
(7*8)+(6*1)+(5*4)+(4*3)+(3*8)+(2*4)+(1*9)=135
135 % 10 = 5
So 81438-49-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Chlorination reactions using N-chlorosuccinimide (NCS) was investigated for various 5-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine derivatives with an electron-withdrawing group substituted at the 3-position. These reactions showed different results, and by examining these, we proposed a reaction mechanism via the appropriate 3-halogenoimidazo[1,2-a]pyridium compounds as the reaction intermediates.
