The complexes Pd(PMe3)4, Pd(PMe2Ph)4 Pd(PMePh2)4, and Pd(PiPr3)2 react with SCNR' (R' = Me, Ph) to give the (η2-isothiocyanate-C,S)palladium(0) compounds (PR3)2Pd(η2-SCNR') (1 - 5).The IR spectra indicate that the isothiocyanate ligands are coordinated via C and S to the metal.The reaction of (PMe2Ph)2Pd(η2-SCNPh) (3) with SCNPh leads to the very stable (dithiocarbimato-S,S') complex (PMe2Ph)2Pd(S2CNPh) (6).During the insertion of SCNMe into the Pd - H bond of the cation + the (dithiocarbamato-S,S') complex + (isolated as the BPh4 salt 7) is obtained.
