Partial Synthesis of Gibberellin A29 from Gibberellin A3

The preparation of gibberellin A29, containing 96,8 atoms percent 13C, from gibberellin A3 in fourteen steps in 0.55percent overall yield is described. Gibberellin A29, containing 90.6 atoms percent 13C and with a specific radioactivity of 29.8 mCi mmol-1, is also described.The ready conversion of 2,O2-didehydrogibberellin A29 by aqueous alkali to a known catabolite of gibberellin A29 is noted.
