A Study of the Apicophilicity of the 2-Furyl Group in Five-co-ordinate Phosphoranes

A number of 2-furylphosphoranes have been prepared; their variable temperature n.m.r. spectra were investigated and compared with those of the corresponding phenylphosphoranes.The 2-furyl group varied from being considerably more apicophilic than phenyl to being perhaps slighthly less apicophilic.
