For demonstration of the utility of the p-nitrobenzophenone oxime polymer I, protected peptides ranging in length from three to seven amino acids were prepared. These peptides were removed from this support by carboxylic acid catalyzed aminolysis with amino acid or peptide esters. These products were obtained in yields ranging from 16percent to 65percent and were of high purity. The segments synthesized correspond to the sequence of a cytotoxic 26-peptide analogue of melittin.
