Potential Anticancer Agents: Synthesis of Some Substituted Pyrrolobenzodiazepines

A number of substituted pyrrolobenzodiazepines have been synthesised starting from appropriately substituted 2-nitrobenzoyl chloride by condensation with methyl pyrrole-2-carboxylate, followed by reduction and cyclisation.These compounds have been screened for their anticancer activity against lymphoid L-1210 but none shows any noteworthy activity.
