SYNTHESIS OF SOME BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE VISNAGIN-9-SULFONYLAMINO ACID AND DIPEPTIDE DERIVATIVES

A synthesis of some visnagin-9-sulfonylamino acids, or amino acid methyl esters (2-18) has been achieved by the reaction of visnagin-9-sulfonyl chloride with an appropriate amino acid or its methyl ester hydrochloride in dioxane.Coupling of visnagin-9-sulfonylamino acid with amino acid methyl ester hydrochloride in dioxane - DMF medium using DCC procedure afforded the desired visnagin-9-sulfonyldipeptide methyl esters (19-22).Sixteen visnagin-9-sulfonylamino acids, esters and dipeptide derivatives were found to be active against a number of microorganisms.
