Polynuclear rhodium complexes with dinucleating PNNP ligand: Dynamic and diverse M...M interactions in [(μ-X)Rh2(PNNP)(CO) 2]n+ and [μ4-XRh4(PNNP) 2(CO)4]n+ [X = H, O, C≡C-R, R-C≡C-R, C≡C, CH=CH2, SMe(2); n = 0, 1: PNNP = 3,5-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)pyrazolato]

The results of a study on polynuclear rhodium complexes containing the PNNP ligand were discussed. A variety of dinuclear adducts were found to be obtained upon treatment of 1-BF4 with hydrocarbyl fragments and donor molecules. The labile dirhodium tetracarbonyl complex served as a precursor for the cis-divacant active species. The dynamic behavior via reversible M-M bond cleavage and recombination process and flexible coordination properties of the Rh2(PNNP) system were also elaborated.
Tetranuclear complexes based on a dynamic metal-metal linkage, [(μ4-X)Rh4(CO)4 (PNNP)2]n+ (X/n = RC ≡ C/1 (acetylide), C2/0 (dicarbide))

Tetrarhodium complexes with a PNNP auxiliary, [(μ4-X)Rh4(CO)4 (PNNP)2]n+ (X/n = RC≡C/1 (acetylide), C2/O (dicarbide); PNNP = 3,5-bis ((diphenylphosphino)methyl)pyrazolato), are integrated mainly through M-X interactions and exhibit unique dynamic behavior associated with reversible metal-metal bond cleavage and recombination processes.
