Boron imides RB = N(tBu) (2a - c), storable at -80 deg C, are formed at 530 deg C by elimination of ClSiMe3 from aminoboranes Cl-(R)B- (1a - c).The boron imides can be completely trimerized to the borazines 3 (3a - c).A considerable BN triple bond character in 2 follows from the 11BN vibrations at 2010 - 2020 cm-1.Boron imides are alkyloborated to the diborylamines 4a - d by BR'3.They undergo a cyclisation to the tetrazaborolines 5a - c with PhN3.With Me3SiN3, the cyclisation to the tetrazaborolines 6a - c concurs with the azidosilation giving the azidoaminoboranes 7a - c.
