HC Toxin is a cell-permeable, reversible inhibitor of histone deacetylases (HDACs) with an IC50 of 30 nM. It is a cyclic tetrapeptide first isolated from H. carbonum (now C. carbonum), a pathogen of maize. Through its effects on HDACs, HC toxin has been shown to up-regulate the expression of 15-lipoxygenase-1 in colorectal cancer cells and induce fetal hemoglobin in human primary erythroid cells.

83209-65-8 Usage

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
HC Toxin is used as an HDAC inhibitor for its potential therapeutic effects in treating colorectal cancer and other diseases. Its ability to up-regulate the expression of 15-lipoxygenase-1 and induce fetal hemoglobin makes it a promising candidate for further research and development.
Used in Agricultural Industry:
HC Toxin is used as a cyclic tetrapeptide fungal toxin that selectively targets plants with susceptible host genotypes. This property can be utilized for the development of targeted pest control strategies and crop protection methods.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cyclic tetrapeptide fungal toxin selectively toxic to plants with susceptible host genotype.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 83209-65-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,3,2,0 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 83209-65:
(7*8)+(6*3)+(5*2)+(4*0)+(3*9)+(2*6)+(1*5)=128
128 % 10 = 8
So 83209-65-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
