PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a pyrimidine compound that is a synthetic intermediate of a charge transport material used for an organic electroluminescent element. SOLUTION: The invention provides 2-R1,4,6-X,5-R2-pyrimidine compound (R1 is halogen, or phenyl substituted with halogen substituted/unsubstituted phenyl; R2 is H, C1-4 alkyl, or phenyl; and X is Cl or OH), and a method of producing the same.
