Cycloaddition Reactions of N-(2-Chloroethylidene)cyclohexylamine N-Oxide with Cinnamate Derivatives

Cyloaddition reactions of N-(2-chloroethylidene)cyclohexylamine N-oxide (2) with the olefins 10a-f at 0 deg C in the presence of AgBF4 in 1,2-dichloroethane as solvent furnish the reactive iminium salts 11a-f in a regio and stereoselective manner.Subsequent reaction of 11a-f with KCN or NaBH4 in water yields the substituted 1,2-oxazine derivatives 12a-b and 13a-f, respectively.Reaction of 10b with 2 in the presence of AgBF4 in liquid SO2 at -15 deg C followed by KCN/H2O work-up causes cleavage of the ester group.
