α-(3,5-Dimethyl-1-pyrazolyl)acetamide (DPA) forms bis complexes of type, M(DPA)X2*nH2O with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II).The halo complexes of cobalt(II) appear to be mixtures of both tetrahedral and octahedral forms in the solid state while the nickel(II) and rest of the cobalt(II) complexes are normal pseudo-octahedral ones. The copper(II) complexes have the usual distorted octahedral configurations except the chloro-complex which appears to be a five-coordinate (C4v) species.IR data indicate the pyrazole ring nitrogen and the amide oxygen of the acetamide residue as the probable coordination sites, thus showing the neutral bidentate character of the ligand.
