The synthesis of two furanoemmotin naphthofurans (5) and (6), closely related to emmotin-G (3) and its isomer (4) are described.The angular 3,6,9-trimethylnaphthofuran (6) has been obtained starting from the known 5,8-Dimethyl-1-naphthol (9) in two steps, and the linear 3,5,8-trimethylnaphthofuran (5) from the known methoxydimethyltetralin (11) in six steps in 25percent and 32percent overall yields respectively.
