4->- and 4--5-oxo-2-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazoles (1a,b) undergo sodium borohydride-aided alcoholysis to give the corresponding 2-benzoylamino-3,3-bis(methylthio)- and 2-benzoylamino-3,3-bis(benzylthio)-acrylates (2) in good yields.
