PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing iodinated aromatic compound, in which the regioselectivity of iodine introduction position is high, and the desired iodide compound can be obtained in a high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing iodinated aromatic compound of the present invention is characterized by having an iodination step of reacting, in the presence of a porous material, an aromatic compound as a reaction substrate, and a specific iodination agent which is an N iodide amide compound or an N iodide imide compound having a cyclic structure including a partial structure represented by the following formula (1).
