ε-Caprolactam and the amides of carboxylic acids enter into a trans-amidation reaction with the formation of a mixture of N-acyl-ε-aminocapramides and the products from their subsequent transformations with ε-caprolactam.The N-acetyl- and N-benzoyl-ε-aminocapramides were synthesized at 225 deg C with an excess of the second agent.
