Variuos results were obtained on reaction of the dihydro-1,4-benzoxazine-2-carboxylic acid derivatives 4a, 5 and 6, which syntheses are described, according to a variation of Polonovski reaction.Compound 4a led to 7 as well as 8 and 9.Compound 5 only yielded 10, while from 6 compounds 11 and 12 were obtained.Formation of the dehydroproducts shows a high dependence from the CH-acidity of the starting compounds.Decomposition occurred on reduction of 7 with lithium aluminium hydride, while Redal/morpholine led to 16.Compound 17 was formed on reduction of 4a with Redal/morpholine.
