Fluorinations of α-seleno carboxylic acid derivatives with hypervalent (difluoroiodo)toluene

A very efficient synthesis of (difluoroiodo)toluene avoiding the use of elemental chlorine and elemental fluorine is described. We have fluorinated a series of α-acceptor substituted selenides using (difluoroiodo)toluene.
