2-Aryl-3-(3-methyl-5-styryl-4-isoxazolyl)thiazolidin-4-ones (IV) have been synthesized by the reaction of 4-benzalamino-3-methyl-5-styrylisoxazoles (III) with mercaptoacetic acid.The intermediate compounds (III) have been prepared by the condensation of 4-amino-3-methyl-5-styrylisoxazole (II), obtained by the reduction of the corresponding nitro compound (I), with benzaldehydes.The structural assignments of IV are based on their PMR and mass spectral data.
