The anthracene derivative according to the invention can function alone as a light emitting host, in particular, as a blue host in an organic electronic device. Further, the anthracene derivative according to the invention can also function as a hole injecting or hole transporting material, an electron injecting or electron transporting material, or a light emitting material in an organic electronic device including a light emitting device.
