(Chemical Equation Presented) Spin doctored: In reactions with phenolate anions, the (tetraisopropylcyclopentadienyl)iron fragment forms low-spin or high-spin iron (II) complexes with different coordination geometries. The lithium complex 1 allows a direct comparison of low-spin and high-spin cyclopentadienyl-iron fragments within one molecule.
