Ketones, phenylacetonitrile, ethylmalonate, cyanoethyl acetate, nitromethane and nitroethane were found to add directely to α,β-unsaturated tertiary amides in the presence of CsF/Si(OMe)4 to give 1,4-addition products in fair to good yields.
