The syntheses of the new five-coordinate trichlorostannate complexes (PPN) (M = Rh, Ir, R = C6H5, p-ClC6H4, p-FC6H4, p-OCH3C6H4), (PPN) and (PPN = bis(triphenylphosphino)imine) are reported, as well as their 119Sn and 31P NMR spectroscopic characteristics. The bis-SnCl3 compounds show 2J(119Sn, 117Sn) coupling constants in the range 891-3381 Hz, and these can vary by as much as a factor of three as a function of both the para-phosphine substituent and chelating olefin.
