Improved synthesis of RO4858542, a 5-HT6 receptor antagonist

An improved synthesis of a 5-HT6 antagonist is described. A problematic amide reduction step was avoided by a reductive amination. Overall, 2.9 kg was produced over 6 steps with an overall yield of 56%.
