Synthesis and Reactions of New Thiazole and Triazole Derivatives

The dimethyl ester 1 reacts with 2 and 5 or with primary and secondary amines to give the derivatives 4, 7, 8a-f, 9a, b, and 10, respectively.Cyclisation of 8a-d with methyl thioglycolate and of 8b-e with methylhydrazine gives the thiazole derivatives 11a-d and the triazole derivatives 12a-d/13a-d, respectively.Acylation of 11b and 13c leads to 14 and 15.The isomer mixtures 12/13 give in sequential reactions the azomethines 16a-g, 17a-e and the thioureas 18a-f.Acyl isothiocyanates react with 13c to yield 19a, b and the thioureas 18a, d-f afford with oxalyl chloride the imidazolidinediones 20a-d.X-ray analyses of the compounds 12a and 20c were carried out.
