The amphoteric ligands Ph2PN-t-BuAlR2 (1a, R = Et; 1b, R = Me) react with HMn(CO)5 to give (CO)4Mn(CHOAlR2N-t-BuPPh2) (2), a product resulting from net migration of hydrogen from Mn to CO.
