Tyromycic acid, also known as tyrocidine A, is a cyclic decapeptide antibiotic produced by the bacteria Bacillus brevis. It is comprised of ten amino acid residues and contains a highly modified structure. Tyromycic acid has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, particularly against gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Bacillus species. It exerts its antibacterial effects by disrupting the cell membrane of target bacteria, leading to cell lysis and death. Tyromycic acid has been of interest for its potential therapeutic applications in medicine and agriculture, and further research is being conducted to explore its potential as a new antibiotic agent.
