General Description

1,1,1,3-Tetrafluorobutane, also known as HFC-365mfc, is a colorless and odorless chemical compound used primarily as a refrigerant in air conditioning and heating systems. It has a molecular formula of C4H7F4 and is a member of the hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) family. It is non-toxic and non-flammable, making it a safer alternative to other refrigerants that contain chlorine. It has a low global warming potential, which makes it environmentally friendly and compliant with regulations aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. 1,1,1,3-Tetrafluorobutane is also used as a propellant in aerosol products and as a blowing agent for foam insulation.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 86884-13-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,6,8,8 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 86884-13:
(7*8)+(6*6)+(5*8)+(4*8)+(3*4)+(2*1)+(1*3)=181
181 % 10 = 1
So 86884-13-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

REACTION OF HYDROXY AND CARBONYL COMPOUNDS WITH SULFUR TETRAFLUORIDE. X. REACTION OF ALIPHATIC β-HYDROXYCARBOXYLIC ACIDS WITH SULFUR TETRAFLUORIDE

Motnyak, L. A.,Burmakov, A. I.,Kunshenko, B. V.,Neizvestnaya, T. A.,Alekseeva, L. A.,Yagupol'skii, L. M.

, p. 634 - 640 (2007/10/02)

The reactions of 3-hydroxypropionic, d,l-3-hydroxybutyric, d,l-4,4,4-trifluoro-3-hydroxybutyric, and 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-trifluoromethyl-3-hydroxybutyric acids with sulfur tetrafluoride were investigated. It was shown that the electronic nature of the substituents at the β-carbon atom has a significant effect on the direction of the reactions of β-hydroxycarboxylic acids with sulfur tetrafluoride.
