Description

HOOC-PEG(8)-SS-PEG(8)-COOH is a versatile and functional molecule that consists of two poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) chains of 8 units each, connected by a disulfide (SS) bond. The molecule also features carboxylic acid (COOH) groups at both ends, which allow for further chemical modifications and conjugations. This unique structure endows HOOC-PEG(8)-SS-PEG(8)-COOH with a wide range of applications in various fields, particularly in the biomedical and materials science industries.

Uses

Used in Nanotechnology and Materials Science:
HOOC-PEG(8)-SS-PEG(8)-COOH is used as a reactant for the preparation of orthogonally dual-clickable Janus nanoparticles via a cyclic templating strategy. This allows for the creation of nanoparticles with distinct functional groups on each side, which can be further modified for specific applications.
Used in Biomedicine:
HOOC-PEG(8)-SS-PEG(8)-COOH is used as a reactant for the preparation of cyclic RGD functionalized gold nanoparticles for tumor targeting. The cyclic RGD motif enables selective binding to integrin receptors overexpressed on tumor cells, allowing for targeted drug delivery and imaging.
Used in Nanoparticle Functionalization:
HOOC-PEG(8)-SS-PEG(8)-COOH is used as a building block for the synthesis of asymmetric-functionalized nanoparticles with orthogonal clickable functionalities. This enables the attachment of different functional groups or ligands to the same nanoparticle, allowing for multifunctional applications.
Used in Protein Immobilization:
HOOC-PEG(8)-SS-PEG(8)-COOH is used as a linker for the functional immobilization of small GTPase Rab6A on DNA-gold nanoparticles. The site-specific attachment of the PEG linker and the subsequent thiol-place exchange reaction allow for the precise positioning of the protein on the nanoparticle surface, which can be useful for studying protein-protein interactions or developing biosensors.
Used in Microfluidics and Biofunctionalization:
HOOC-PEG(8)-SS-PEG(8)-COOH is used in the direct writing of metal nanoparticle films inside sealed microfluidic channels. This allows for the creation of biofunctionalized surfaces within microfluidic devices, which can be used for protein capture and fluorescence assays, among other applications.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 873013-93-5 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 8,7,3,0,1 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 873013-93:
(8*8)+(7*7)+(6*3)+(5*0)+(4*1)+(3*3)+(2*9)+(1*3)=165
165 % 10 = 5
So 873013-93-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Cyclic RGD functionalized gold nanoparticles for tumor targeting

Arosio, Daniela,Manzoni, Leonardo,Araldi, Elena M. V.,Scolastico, Carlo

, p. 664 - 672 (2011)

Integrin αvβ3 is an adhesion molecule involved in physiological and pathological angiogenesis as well as tumor invasion and metastasis. Therefore, it is considered an important target for molecular imaging and delivery of therapeutics for cancer, and there is a strong interest in developing novel agents interacting with this protein. Nevertheless, the interaction of individual ligands is often still weak for efficient tumor targeting, and many research groups have synthesized multivalent displays in order to overcome this problem. Gold nanoparticles can be considered a smart platform for polyvalent presentation on account of their globular shape, tunable size, facile surface chemistry, and biocompatibility. Moreover, their unique physical properties render gold nanoparticles ideal candidates for tumor diagnosis and therapy. Here, we report the synthesis and characterization of gold nanoparticles functionalized with cRGD integrin ligand and their employment for targeting human cancer cells expressing αvβ3 integrin.
